I just went to my Dr. for the same reason...and I was given a strong pain killer to take every 12hrs when needed. She also advised to take birth control pills in order to help with the intensity.

I can sympathize 110%. I am 28 years old, and am booked already for a hysterectomy in November for the same reasons. Flow is extreme and long, and the cramps are like being in labor with my kids all over again.
The docs went through a series of meds when I was 10-12 and none of them helped. When I was 13, they finally just put me on the pill. That did help the flows, but not the cramps so much. Here's the wonder drug.
NAPROXEN
It has been my saviour for the last three years. It was originally introduced as an arthritis drug, but was discovered to be one of the best menstral meds ever.
It is a prescription drug, you have to go to your doctor and have him/her prescribe it. It will be the best choice you ever made in your life. I promise.

I had a gf who had really bad cramps like that, and her doctor suggested she try masturbating when nothing else seemed to work. Having an orgasm relaxes the muscles and makes the cramps ease up.

I was prescribed Lidoderm patches by my doctor for back pain. I tried one over my cramps one month as a last resort and it worked unbelievably well. Your doctor will have to prescribe it for you though. It is actually approved for post shingles pain.

If the pain is really intense you may want to ask your doctor/gyno about birth control pills. They regulate your hormones.
