if ur not on a budget, u can stay at shangri-la mactan its a luxury hotel and the service is superb plus a breathtaking view of the sea near the hotel

Dont listen about the bombing thing in Cebu.
In all the city in the Phil. CEBU s the Safest Place, it is Far from Manila where there are so many Rallies and are Far from Mindanao where the Muslim Extremist Resides.
If you plan to stay in Cebu Shangrila is a good hotel but very far from the Queen city since it is Located in Mactan which is in Lapu Lapu city.
Try Marriot Hotel or Waterfront Hotel it is in the Heart of the City and in the Business Area. so good for Malling and Bar Hopping.
You can also try Midtown Hotel or Metropolis hotel they are the cheapest yet good Services.

Holiday Plaza uptown is always a good choice, it has clean rooms at a very reasonable price and very secure with good service, its also located close to the S&M Mega Mall.
The SOGO HOTEL is a good second choice if your looking to go a little cheaper and you want to be in the middle of the night life.
The SOGO is located in an older part of the city but is pretty much secure with good service. Lots of night life just out side on most any nearby street, just be careful wondering around at night by yourself.
You may also want to consider staying at a pension house if your on a tight budget but i dont recommend it for first time visitors. If you do choose a pension house then make sure it is a reputable establishment.
Staying out on Mactan Island is ok but can be rather expensive and most likely you will do a lot of riding going back and forth to Cebu City so its a lot easier to just find a place to stay in Cebu.

If you want resort-type with pools and the beach nearby, then go for Shangri-la Mactan. But, it is pretty far from Cebu City. If you want to be in the business district, then Marriot Hotel. If you want to be near the casino, then Waterfront Lahug. These last two hotels are right in the city and near all the happening places. Cebu has so many nice hotels and you'll surely find one that will fit your needs and budget.

Try Costabella Beach in Mactan, Cebu. I've been there May 2006. Very nice, cozy, relaxing and peaceful place. Nice beach. At night, you can use their swimming pool... choose from 3 different types. You may call 63-32-2313273 or contact their Marketing Manager - Marilou at 63-927-8769678 (just tell her you were refered by a friend). Rates are way below than Shangri-la or Cebu Beach Club. And by the way, they share the beach :)

I stayed at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City and it's comfortable.
Try Plantation Bay or Shangrila Mactan. I've been there on a day tour and they seem nice too.

there are lots of hotels here where you can stay : if you wanted it near the beach we have an island near Cebu, Lapu-lapu city where theres Shangrila Hotel, Tambuli, and Plantation Bay which is really great places to stay..if your on budget, you go for Portufino and Maribago beach resort..
But if you like it more within Cebu City, theres Waterfrot Hotel, Marco Polo and Marriott Hotel..those are 5star hotels..for cheaper ones, we have Holiday Plaza Inn and Rajah Place...
