I am running Windows SBS 2003. I have a good link once connecting my VPN. I am able to remote desktop to both end points.
Then I try to Back up through the Server Management tool. When I try to choose back up destination, I am able to view the end point network icon, but it will not show the end server or workstations available in Network. Hence, I am not able to choose backup hard drive on end point server.

Does anyone have any ideas for me to accomplish my redundant back ups? Either through windows tools or other software. Preferably Windows.

Also check my other questions if knowledgable in the field.

Thanx,
Steve

windows naming service does not properly work over vpn without extra changes to host or lmhosts files for easy back up over vpn you need an ip based back up tool or software that will work over vpn.

this one is an example and only costs like 59 bucks and also works with usb drives and other options.

you should definately check into a proper backup software from symatec (they recently purchased veritas) there are also services that allow you to back up securely accross the internet for a monthly fee. check into thoughs as well. many times they are cheaper than manageing tapes off sight.
