The last Battlestar episode the Lucy Lawless cylon referred to a dog by its name. The dog's water bowl has been used to convey messages to the resistance. Could that dog be a nother cylon model? That would be a great twist wouldn't it? It makes sense because they can keep an eye on the resistance without being detected. Or am I putting too much thought into this?

I think it's just showing that some cylon models are starting to feel affection towards the living creatures (including humans) that they had set out to annihilate. The occupation and close contact to humans is making them, in a way, more human.
