It's not just on the Pets section people are rude and hateful....being on here gives people the anonymity to feel superior. So, I'd just ignore it. Most of them probably have low self esteems and live in their mothers' basements.

People can be rude no matter what the situation.
BUT there is a serious problem with pet overpopulation and the only people who can stop it are the pet owners with unspuetered pets!
Law enforcement and government can't do anything about it. Or won't whatever the case may be. Many of us feel so deeply about the pet overpopulation problem that it ENRAGES us when someone admits to not taking a simple precaution and getting their pets fixed. It's not even nearly as expensive as people think anymore and its frustrating to us. I mean, the cost of spuetering is SO MUCH CHEAPER the the costs of puppies and kittens when born. AND there are many more health complications by not getting pets fixed.
And about having a pocket full of money, pets in my opinion are like children, don't have them if you don't have the money for vet care.
Some things just don't make sense to me. And, it's the ignorance of some people that f*ck it up for everyone else.

yes i do agree and asked this a long time ago, i am here to try to do my best to answer legitimate questions and maybe point someone in the right direction because of my experience and my profession, and yes i have seen some just plain stupid answers that should not have been there because they did not know what they were talking about and can misguide someone who is asking for help, but most of the time everyone tries to help out, then there are those that are just plain smart a****and try to get everyone riled up...and there are those that do some real stupid things to their pets and then ask questions when it only takes a phone call to find anything out...what i really get upset with is the answers that tell someone they should not have the pet if they knew nothing about it, we all had to start somewhere and learn things along the way a lot of people on here thnk they were born with all this knowledge i guess, people have many legitimate questions and deserve polite honest answers.....

Many of the people answering the questions consider this as a game, and look only to get two points with rude and thoughtless answers. Others have no idea of what they are talking about but feel the need to put in their two cents. If an answer gives either a website or is long and rambling, they haven't the foggiest idea of what they are giving as an answer. I do not give blogs or websites, and I give you a frank opinion based on many years of research and study. Perhaps it is not the best advice available but that's for you to decide. We can psychologically divide the answerers into categories, the teenagers who want to show-off, the serious students who want to pick people's brains for help, the immature adult who seeks to put people down, sincere adults looking for information, the hate mongers that try to make schisms in politics, religion and science, the braggadosio who want to characterize their sexual prowess, or the juveniles that suddenly learned to unzip their pants and want the world to know, and finally the mean, evil people that have nothing worthwhile to do and simply like to pick.

I agree with you in general, however there are times when I blow my top too.
Like when there are people asking questions about a severely ill pet they are so worried about because it's been bleeding for a day and a half. Or the lady/girl who wanted some suggestions on how to get her mind off of her guinea pig who lay dying for 3 1/2 days. Judging by the info she was giving, the gp had a respiratory infection. Would you leave your pets just lay there getting worse and worse and only worry about getting your mind off of them?
Sorry, but if you really love animals as much as you do and I do believe a lot of us do, you cannot help getting mad sometimes.

You bet I agree with you! I haven't always had the money to run to the vet.
I'll give you a quick story..and if someone had helped me I would have saved $800.00 and the poor dog a lot of misery.
One day my female dog, who had puppies, started to shake, pant, hard time breathing, couldn't stand up..breathing got really bad. It was a Sunday night, I asked for help from anyone..any ideas.. Everybody just said ..go to the vet..You're being cruel, I was desperate for immediate help... I had to take her, called the vet after hours..waited for 2 hours for the vet to get to her office, she used intravenous..dog stayed for two days. Because so many hours had gone by the dog was going into shock.
guess what it was??.. The mother dog was low on calcium, due to the puppies.. all she needed was a "tums" with calcuim or a small piece of a calcium vitamin.. That's what the vet gave her.
So had I known that..I would have given her the calcium and all the symptoms would have been gone in 10 minutes..
She had another attack, I gave her a calcium.. no problems.
Thanks for your question..
very good.
I asked for help "while waiting for the vet to phone me and meet me.. I was afraid my dog would die... It was a shot in the dark that someone may of had an answer that might help in the meantime.. I do now.. for anyone with the same problem.. Calcium..

I agree with you.
However, you must admit, there are some stupid pet questions. Perhaps people are expressing their anger that so much attention is fostered on animals when there are humans experiencing great suffering. And often, these are questions which should best be directed to a veterinarian anyway.
While we're on the subject, there's a great radio show, out of Michigan, I think, called "Calling All Pets." Its focus is on pet behaviour. It's got all sorts of helpful advice on animal care, understanding and redirecting animal behaviour. They even have a web site.

Hi,
I think it is because this yahoo site is "free", and all some people are trying to do is rack up points, that really are meaningless anyway.
Some have it right by saying just ignore those that really are not interested in using this privilege, for what it was intended.
Hope this helps, have a good day!

Totally agree! I have 15 horses, 3 dogs, and Lord knows how many barn cats - (I live on a ranch) Its so expensive to help or even feed one cat, but we would never toss them out. Some people are just more taken with themselves, I guess. I commend the people here who take time to answer any question at all! To make a difference in an animal's life, see:http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/CTDSites.woa
Click everyday for free, and help feed homeless animals! Also, some good rescue stories!
Good for you for bringing this up!
