Brian Cox. He played the original Hannibal lecter in the Film 'Manhunter' He made the part of a psychopath believable. In real life, you couldn't tell apart a real psychopath from a real person they appear normal on the outside: in reality a psychopath ccould pass a lie detecter test even after a multiple murder.

I would say either Tony Curran, because you see him in everything as a supporting actor, Blade 2, Underworld Evolutions etc, or Andy Serkis, because he should have got an Oscar for Gollum, in Lord of the Rings- the Two Towers.(Best Supporting or Best actor, doesn't matter which.)
But I have to agree that Val Kilmar and Brian Cox are both also Excellent Actors.

I'd have to say probably Tim Robbins or Sean Penn. Both are great in Mystic River, Robbins as everyone knows is good in Shawshank Redemption, whereas Penn is superb in Dead Man Walking and 21 Grams. Put a gun to my head and I'd say Sean Penn is the most under-rated actor of modern times (I can't comment on all time considering the oldest movie I've seen is The Wild One!).

Steve Buscemi

steve buscemi is alao my choice and i am a long term campaigner for his cause. any film you think of that he is in you always think of other actors first yet if he had not been in the film it would not have worked. examples

armagedeon bruce willis and ben afflec. but if steve's space madness character had not been there it would not have worked like wise in con air, john cussack, john malcovich, nick cage. but if steve's character had not been there the film would have been lacking.

its the way that he acts a character thatb makes him so great and he out performs the lead roles but still gets little recognition.
