Hey everyone. I have an unwashable fur coat with a bad case of moth smell in it. I've already tried airing it out for a few days and that did almost nothing. Does anyone know any tricks to get the smell out without using any harmful chemicals(the coat wasn't cheap). Any answers will be appreciated..
Thanks

Stop killing animals and that should help.

I have the same problem with a shearling coat, try getting a few bags of cedar shavings from your local pet store/department, and bury the coat in cedar shavings in a big plastic/Rubbermaid tub for a few days. I've heard it works! The coat will smell like cedar but it airs out faster than the mothball smell.

You can take it to a dry cleaners and they can remove the odor. Also you can put your coat in the dryer on the coolest setting possible with a dryer sheet and just let it tumble for no more than 5 minutes. Hope this helps.

The smell is actually a gas so airing them out is the best way I would think.

Another option would be to bring it to a professional cleaner that deals with fur.

Good luck!

Free flowing air and sunlight will remove most odors from natural fur
