Anyone have experience with this operation to address menorrhagia (extremely heavy menstrual bleeding)? Please tell any troublesome side effects or aftereffects, and whether it was effective in curing your complaint. Thank you.

From my wife:
I had it done several years ago, due to fibroid tumors, which were causing menorrhagia. No side effects, healed quickly, extremely effective, never had heavy bleeding again. Keep in mind that destroying the lining of the uterus (which this operation does) normally removes any place for an egg to attach, so pregnancy is pretty much no longer an option. If that's not a factor for you, then I would recommend it highly.

The only ablation I'm familiar with is the erosion of heat shield material from spacecraft or nuclear warheads when they reenter the atmosphere. I guess it's not quite the same thing.
