I saw this quilt in a shop in Amish country in Indiana. I asked the name of the quilt and was told it was Rubik's cube. I have searched everywhere, and the closest I come is Tumbling Blocks, and it isn't the same. Help!!!!!!
THANKS

If it's like the one in the first link below, it's an eight pointed star where each large diamond is composed of nine smaller diamonds. The squares are composed of nine patches. The center star is surrounded by a second round of diamonds and squares. It's all about placement of color/value. There are many names for variations of this star - the Lone Star, Harvest Sun, Prairie Star, Star Upon Star, Virginia Star - it goes on and on.

Because the diamonds are cut with 45 degree angles, a special ruler might come in handy. EZ Quilting has one called the Easy Eight (second link).

Your best bet would be to find a book that has instructions for the correct type of star, then modify the color layout and possibly add the second set of diamonds to create what you need. The diamonds are all the same size, as are the squares, so if you have a decent picture and play around a little bit, you can probably even draft this yourself. The last link is to a book on Lone Star Quilts by Jan Krentz. I know that she mentions the 3x3 diamond layout, so you can probably find what you need here.

Good luck - this is a gorgeous quilt.

I can solve the Rubik's Cube in about a minute...My advice is to search "ryan heise method" then go to beginner solution. It's very easy to understand. Good Luck
