i'm a song writer and...well...i really dont know what to write about...i had some other good material before, but i'm trying to change my style a little bit because all my other stuff rhymed way to much than what i needed, it was pretty negative, and well...full of lines that were nothing more than pathetic excuses for deep statements...and...i really dont like that...now i try to write now, and...im so used to writing the other way, i almost did it again...and idk...any suggestions on how to get a bit more creative?

Well, if you want to write about happy things, you must think of things that make you or your friends happy. Muse is a fickle thing, but once you get it going don't let anything interrupt you.
In order to coax your muse to cooperate, try imagining something beautiful or if you find imagination hard, just recall a moment you were really happy.
Some happy things are: The Bahamas, Candy, Pets, Wild animals in their natural environment, Art, your favorite (happy ending) book, Money, your favorite Season etc.
Almost anything that is happy or if not Happy, than at least not terribly depressing will do. I hope I helped. Happy Writing

Simple....write about what you know and feel deeply about. Forget about how "deep" it is just feel it. The best "art" whether it's song writing, painting or,poetry should inspire some emotion it the audience. True feelings will do that more than trying to be something you're not.

Humor me and play along: If someone -- friend or relative -- you knew only had a week or two to live, what (in addition to the obvious and necessary information that you loved him or her very much and didn't want to lose this person) would you most like that person to know or to understand? What would you want to tell him? What do you think (in addition to love and care for you) he or she would most want to communicate to you? Why are these things important? Why do we want others to know them? If you were the one with only a week or two to live, what (in addition to the obvious love statements) would you want to tell people? Why is this important to you?

If you were going to be deaf for the rest of your life, what are the 10 things you'd want to hear one last time before that happened? Would you want to hear how badly things were going in the world? Would you want to hear things that gave you joy? Different people are different, so your answers and mine won't likely match up. That's ok. Be yourself. What would you most want to hear? Why?

Write that.

Watch people and everything around you...don't pressure yourself. The muse will come when you least expect it.

Get yourself a small tape recorder, when you have a thought, idea, or see or hear something that you like, record it immediately. Later, when you sit down to write, listen to the tape...otherwise, you lose the muse.

good luck!

Okay, you need to have a lot of bad stuff happen to you, to get yourself some material. OR, put yourself in other's bad shoes. Good luck.

Step outside of yourself...like an actor...and imagine you are someone else, thinking and acting like "not you."
