My lord but you are misinformed!
The NAACP does not owe allegiance to any political party.
They have taken a lot of flack from all sides but they continue
to follow their own lights.
Civil rights legislation has been dragged out of politicians, none of the championed it except as a vote getting ploy.
While Lincoln did emancipate the slaves, when the Civil War started he was against abolishing slavery as politically unwise. His Republican party has nothing to do with today's. I've been a Republican since turning 21, and ashamed of how the party has been hijacked for the last four administrations by people without conscience, scruple or morals.

If you read your history, you would see that the Republican Party in the mid 1800's have the beliefs of the Democratic Party today. The Republican Party of today has the beliefs of the Whig Party in the 1800's.
As far as "lap dog", as you say, the NAACP worked more with Democratic politicians than the Republicans. The Democrats actually TALK to the NAACP, whereas the Republicans ignore them and make racist statements such as "welfare mothers with multiple children". Reagan mentioned that, you know.

It was Johnson and Kennedy who pushed for the legislation and it was introduced by democrats. Republicans did vote for the legislation and Southern Democrats tried to stop it -- those Southern Democrats all switched over to the Repblican Party (where they are today if they aren't dead like Strom Thurmond.) after the legislation passed.
The republican party of today is not the Party of Lincoln or the same as it was in the 1960's. Ever since Nixon, Republicans have embraced racism as a campaign tactic and not supported any legislation viewed as beneficial by minorities.

The Naacp is taking money from Republicans. Remember, they begged Bush for years to give a speech and he kept saying no (because he didn't want to be any where near them) They kept begging and finally brought Bush in with open arms this year.
Try to see Democrats as your brothers and the truth will be revealed.

Because democrats support civill rights and not republicans you idiot..
Though I appreciate your tried example of the insipid American paradigm- spreading the false and misleading anecdotes as a substitution for an understanding of history.

Did you not learn about the parties realignment in the Depression? Maybe you should not have slept through your high school US History class.
