DO not lay in the sun! Its not good for you at all.
Not sure if you can get it where you live, but Johnson's Holiday Skin, is THE BEST lotion for building a light, natural looking tan. You just apply it like normal moisturiser and it wont streak or anything.
I'm pale too and I swear by it!

Have you ever tried an airbrush tan?? I do airbrush tanning for a living...I have been using Aviva Labs Tanning Solution...my clients love it from my most pale clients to my darker than dark clients..and it's hypoallergenic..with NO orange color..big plus is it last 7-10 days and fades like a natural tan. Check out their website avivalabs.com, if you contact the company they should be able to tell you a tanning facility near you that uses their products :-)

ok, me and my daughters are very pale too, we cudnt get a tan if our life dependeed on it, but there is a spray on, and its very easy, it usually stays for about a week to 10 days. its brilliant.

Well, there are tanning pills....but I don't know how well they work.
