I recommend you go to your college and ask them how to get involved. I bet they can help you there. I personally got information about this from an english teacher. I now teach in Hong Kong!

Are you a native English speaker? If so, TESOL probably offers the cheapest option for an international teaching licence.
They give you the choice of a one-week intensive classroom training course, a several week (can't remember how many weeks..maybe 6) extensive classroom course, or an on-line course.
I recommend taking the longer classroom course if you don't have a teaching or training background.

Some countries demand that you have a university degree, although that often depends on your age.

Be very wary of any school willing to take you on without any sort of qualification other than being a native English speaker.

Alternatively, if you're a native English speaker with no qualifications, you could throw all caution to the wind, pack your bags, climb onto a flight, land & go door knocking. You'll probably land yourself a short term job, but you might not enjoy the experience. If you're just looking to finance your way through an OE with short term stopovers, the only people who'll really care are those of us trying to make a legitimate career & create some credibility in the industry.

No you do not need a degree. I have a friend that did this around Asia for years and really enjoyed it, though it does not pay much. I believe the Bunac program can facilitate teach abroad options as well.

native english speakers are very much in demand in many countries. you don't need a degree. the school will teach you what you need to know. don't expect to earn much unless you do private tutoring of groups in your own house. the schools pay very little.

You can not teach English for someone if you don't have a degree in communication art (at least in U.S)

This degree is evidence that you have ability to teach someone.
