while cooking I threw a breaker. I went to the box and turned what I thought was the breaker for the kitchen back on, it wasn't, it was for the family room. I turned it back on and then turned on the breaker for the kitchen. The kitchen stuff came back on, but now the lights and tv won't turn back on in the family room. I believe that there is a certain way to reset the entire breaker box and an order you have to go through to reset them. It's specific and if you don't do it in order, then it doesn't work. Please help if you know how to fix the problem. Thanks

I found what I was looking for. And there is AN ORDER .... and um, i'll double post if I want. I have 5 kids here and trying to get homework finished and stuff.... so I was wanting to get the post read. Here is what SCE says about the breakers:
If you still have no electricity after you've reset your circuit breakers, try turning off the main breaker switch and all your circuit breaker switches. Then turn on the main breaker switch and reset each circuit breaker switch.

having a special order is unusual. usually you just have to flip the breaker back on. If that doesn't work try pushing the breaker further to the off position and then back to the on position.

Never heard of a breaker box that had a special order. Turn off the breaker to the family room, after you turn everything in it off, for 5 minutes. Then turn it back on. Now go and turn each item on, if it works then the items have an internal protection circuit, if not turn the breaker off and call an electrican in the morning, you may have stumbled on a problem in the making.

Easy problem to fix. Put your hands in your pocket and go outside. Wait until an electrican comes by and then have him fix the problem. Do not continue to reset a breaker. There is such a thing as causing the breaker contacts to weld shut and then you are in a world of hurt. When that happens you can not turn it off and walla! next comes the sirens and men with axes chopping holes in your roof to let the smoke out.

There is no order to reset breakers. Its a breaker box not a safe. If you are resetting breakers more than once to get power back on then you need to replace breakers.

please dont double post...i just answered your other post

In addition to my answer
there is no way to turn on breakers in "an order" or "reset" the panel.
The only thing the panel does is have electric feeding down to each breaker and each breaker is just a switch with a few built in sensors so it trips in the right setting.

I will say it again, try to call an electrician in on this

also, get one of those outlet testers from HD with the 3 lights on it...plug it into the TV outlet and your kitchen outlets...make sure everything is wired correctly

if their on their on... no order

to reset turn all the way off then all the way on

if you reset kit & it affected another area controlled by another breaker, you need an electrician!!! now!!! don't re set any more!
