Sadly, that is a true statement.
And it's very possible. North Korea is very paranoid about America. They figure if they have nukes, we won't attack.

It sounds very possible. Turntable has his history a bit confused. Clinton worked out a deal with Kim; under the terms of the deal, Kim held off for ten years. When Bush took office he nullified the deal so to Kim all bets were off and he resumed nuclear development. I expect one reason was self-defense, but another and equally compelling reason is that this is a small man who desperately wants recognition and respect from the larger community of nations, and entry into the elite nuclear club is one way to get it.
It's too late for "let's make a deal." The genie is out of the bottle. We now have one highly unstable head of state with a potential nuke, and another, only slightly more stable, in the Middle East who will have that same capability in 10 years if not sooner. I hope I don't live long enough to see all these potential allies and adversaries squaring off. WW3 will not be survivable. The cockroaches will inherit the earth.

It is impossible for him to even get close enough to do anything to America. He knows the two biggest threats are within 1 hour of North Korea....South Korea and Japan. South Korea could be wiped of the globe if he was to attack. Japan has no real military stance according to the wwll agreements. They have no nukes to start with, Japan being one of the worlds highest generators of Electronics and alike. Is very important to the world. Kim Jong Ill's stance is that he will play around with the notion that he will smash Japan and Korea, knowing these are American allies. It's not that we have never bombed a country with nukes...it's just that we used ours, At the time no one else had any. We made the first and showed the world that no one should use this type of tactic in war fare. The North Korean Leader has been pulling strings at the U.N> for decades(Father) and no one wanting the millions of people that will run into the closer countries, if they were to try to take him out, It would set China and S.Korea about 50 years back. China over populated,S.Korea approaching 50 million people, on a global scale...it would be like taking in millions and millions of uneducated ,hungry, willing to do anything for money(get what I mean) It just couldn't be handled. He is always using that to control what the U.N. does to him. He doesn't care about his people...but to everyoe else they are the plegue...and he uses that, to control the world....

Here's the thing though, we are probably going to back Japan all the way and I really don't understand why they would want nukes. If they didn't get the nukes, they would not be in the middle of a controversy. So why would we want to attack them? That really does not make sense. They have not caused any trouble until now.

Nuclear power is an exclusive club and with good reason. The nations with nuclear power have a great obligation to act resonably and responsibly. Unfortunately, Kim's behavior doesn't show these traits.
I think he wants nuclear power to use on others, no other reason. He wants to use them against Korea's "enemies".
Peace is dead.

I think the little guy realizes that he's not getting any younger and that he wants to finally end the ongoing war with s. korea with a victory before his rein of terror ends. Taking out a few thousand Americans during the process is gravy for him.

But of course only a few major powers have had them, so it was not posisible for us to attack one.
In general, he wants them because he wants them, and Bush haters will twist any story to make it sound like it was his fault.
The truth is they have been developing this ability for years and most likley to sell the techonogy so they can build up a larger and larger military

they have nukes because Clinton made a deal with N. Korea not to develop nukes as long as we give them money and aid...they lied...Clinton believed them...i think it is possible we will attack them with an air strike if they try to attack or transport the nuke...
