84 cents for a 1 oz. letter.

The rate is 84c for a one ounce letter from anywhere in the U.S. to anywhere in the world (except Canada and Mexico, which cost less). It does not matter "how many" stamps you use, as no special stamps are needed for international mail - they just have to add up to at least 84c - the post office doesn't mind if you overpay. And it's best not to use stamps that just say "First Class," as some postal employees do not realize that they are now okay for international mail, so the letter could be delayed.

It depends on where you live. I live in the North East, and it cost me 80 cents, a few weeks ago.

you will need to take it to the post office. overseas rates vary with envelope size or shape, the weight of the envelope and sometimes other factors.
