generally, the iseries is more resilient than windows and can go much longer than windows between "reboots" (known as IPL in the as/400 world). Windows will get unstable in a few weeks where the AS/400 will not.

The AS/400 only needs to be rebooted to regain some wasted space in indexes and temporary storage.

I have been in a company supporting 550+ Windows servers and found that about every 30-45 days is an ideal time interval to reboot windows.

For the AS/400, I would reboot (IPL) at least every 90 days and only for housekeeping unless you have patches that need to be applied then you can IPL whenever you need to.
