Ok so there's this girl I know who looks exactly like Tyra Banks but she's white, so I told her she looks like a white Tyra Banks. She got pissed off at me and said that was racist! What do yall think?

No, it is not a racist comment. However, some people don't know a compliment when they hear one. Tyra has beautiful bone structure and eyes that are the envy of just about every model on the catwalk. I wish I looked good enough to be a "white Tyra Banks".

No, that wasn't racist. Some people just overreact and will try to find anything and everything to make a big deal about. Now if you said she looked like a white Tyra Banks and then said something derrogitory about Tyra Banks, then yes, that might be considered racist, but frankly, if ANYONE told me I looked like a white (fit super model name here), I certainly wouldn't be offended!

I am suprised that she would get pissed off. Tyra Banks represents beauty. If someone told me I was a short Tyra Banks, I would be flattered even though I am not tall. The comparison is wonderful. My friend's brother looks like a black Joey Lawrence (dancing with the stars) He is a hunk!!!

I wouldn't have taken it as a racist comment, but then I'm white...I would kiss someone's toes if they told me I looked like Tyra Banks...black, white, red, yellow...whatever!
Don't sweat the small stuff, just don't give the girl any more compliments.

The comment isn't racist. To be racist, it must involve the excercise of power. But this comment isn't even bigotted. Although I don't see why you felt the need to qualify it with the adjective white. She resembles Tyra Banks. That's that. (If she's actually a light skinned African American, I can understand why she was upset.)

I don't think that's racist. I don't think there was anything wrong with that remark. Maybe the girl is a racist. I am white, and I wouldn't consider it an insult or a racist remark if anyone said a white girl looked like a famous African-American. It is a compliment anytime a woman is compared to a beautiful woman, period.
