patterns of wealth directly correlate with patterns of thought. Those who are wealthy, most of the times were in the frame of mind which made them that way. Income distribution -> taking money from the rich and giving to the poor is a power marxist belief. It incourages people to be lazy.
- back on to the subject about how each are treated- well frankly that is up to the individual- Why because we are all Americans.

People are always treated differently and always will be.The wealthy are treated with more respect for various reasons. Because they have power and authority and clout that they can use against you or for you. The poor, as a rule, are treated as an unwelcome necessity as there is a need for ones to do the undesirable jobs, fight the wars, and provide for the more affluent.

That has always been the way the world worked. Money and political power talks. If Martha Stewart had known that the wealthy always "invest" in politics, she never would have gone to jail. Bill Gates what starting to have problems before he hired the right advisers on the subject.

It's called economic discrimination.
I've been to both sides of the spectrum. It is very sad.
Many rich people tend to think they are better, and have bigger egos. Just because someone has more money doesn't make anyone more important than the other.
AND, I know some poor people with no debt, and rich people with piles of debt. So claiming someone is rich or poor, isn't exactly black and white....it's shades of grey.

I just ask: Who is more likely to hire me? A rich guy or a poor guy? So I treat them accordingly. Simple, and common sense.

I'm not poor. I don't care.
OK, since it's a college question, seriously: Poverty has always existed. Whenever you have Homo sapiens specimens somewhere, there's poverty. And the same goes for the U.S.
You can look at U.S: Census statistics about poverty:
http://www.census.gov/hhes/www/poverty.html
Now since the question seems to be about sociology, well, wealth correlates with power.

I think to even ask that question means that you are either really rich, or really poor.
