It does result in a lot of theft Both petty and grand, lost productivity and shoddy performance. Smart stockholders and business-persons try to get rid of it. Most famous success story, Ben and Jerry.

Depends on the Authority behind the Economic Structure. It sorta worked in CCCP, and still works in China,Vietnam,Cuba and other places.
Give a person a safe and warm place to rest,a warm body to keep company, food enough for a day and a bottle of vodka they will fight or wok for any cause at any time.

Yes.. typically petty crime such as theft and robbery is a result of drug use, class conflicts, and the inability to move up financially in a country. For example, the "american dream" is more realized in places in the Netherlands as opposed to the U.S.
