lately since the economy has been goin downhill, so has my dads buisness. hes a master plumber and hes been doin this work for about 30 years. we live out in the country and live about 30 min. away from town which makes gas cost for us sky high. for our buisness we rely on getting calls, etc, and lately they havent beem coming in and we dont know wat to do nothin is getting better, we're sellin our house and wanting to move out of state, but we dont know if thatll make things better, we're really tight on money, we cant even afford twenty dollars for my school lunch and highschool football game/dance. if anyone has any mind of financial advice for our situation, i would grealty appreciate it and if not just pray for us, we really need any kind of help we can get.

There is no reason that a plumber (anywhere) should be broke. He needs to find someone who knows how to run a business. His plumbing skills may be excellent, but if his business skills are not, he will go broke.

Moving to a stronger economy will certainly help, but he will be working longer and harder than he needs to for the same money if he can't run a business. He should be able to weather downturns in the economy if he is doing the right things on the business side (advertising, marketing, bookkeeping, setting money back for slow times, etc.)

That really blows. Do you have an older sibling who can work? That's the first thing that comes off the top of my head right now. Also, you might want to talk to your parents about something called "debt consolidation." It's basically taking out a loan that's on low interest (about 5-7%) to pay off all the debts (like credit cards, which has an interest rate of 18-20%). It's more of a long-term solution, but they might start thinking about it. And remember, there's always a light at the end of the tunnel. My parents went through the same thing yours are going through, and they came out fine. Good luck!

I will pray for you.

Can you do something from home? Any part time jobs out there that you can take?

Is your mother still around? Is she working?

Do you have any other family members who can work?

Can you sell any home items on eBay?

It is heartbreaking to hear stories like this. Small businesses are really getting hit hard with the higher costs of doing business.
