You (obviously) have a PC, so why not do some RESEARCH yourself, instead of asking for a spoon feeding.

You might learn something!

So far nobody has helped. So Lana to the rescue....
Short verision: The Royal Navy was the most powerfull in the world at the time. They were able to station ships off American ports to stop our trade and impress our seamen into their Navy.
The Continental Navy was rather small and poorly equiped response. The most famous of the American Navy leaders was John Paul Jones ( considered the Father of the US NAVY). He engaged in several battles. the most famous was his fight with the HMS Serapis. However the US was not able to break the blockade. That would not happen until the French entered the fight late in the war. We Also tried some rather technical inventions. Most famous was the Turttle. This was the world first real submarine. Made of wood and powered by hand, the Turtle tried to attack the HMS Eagle in Boston Harbor in 1776. The attack failed however.

As for your second question?

Americans used hit in run tactics to fight the professional British Army. Rather than engage in mass formations, the American would use cover & surprise. They employed Kentucky Rifles that couls shoot further & with more acuracy than a Musket. The Marines Serving on land and at sea, distinguished themselves in a number of important operations, including their first amphibious raid into the Bahamas in March 1776, under the command of Captain (later Major) Samuel Nicholas. Other actions such as the Battle of Ticonderoga by Benidict Arnold And Ethan Allen's Green Mountian Boys were also notable Guerilla events. On the other side Robert Rogers formed Ranger units to perform specal operations for the british. The Queen's York Rangers (1st American Regiment) (RCAC) of the Canadian Army is the direct decendent of that force.

I read a book once on gorilla warfare in the revolution. The movie the Patriot shows it. The British troops were trained to fight in lines one behind the other. They fought that way for years. The colonist fought from behind trees rocks what have you. It really caught the Brits off guard. They didn't know how to fight that way.
