It is the religion that gave us the 10 Commandments and Jesus Christ. If you want to understand the message of Jesus, you need to understand Judaism. He was born a Jew, followed all of the laws of Judaism, and died a Jew. He was called rabbi by his followers. The Last Supper was the Jewish Passover.

Judaism is the religion of the Jewish people. It is one of the first recorded monotheistic faiths, and it is one of the oldest religious traditions still practiced today. The values and history of the Jewish people are a major part of the foundation of other Abrahamic religions such as Christianity, Islam, as well as Samaritanism and the Bahá'í Faith. As of 2006, adherents of Judaism numbered around 14 million followers,[1] making it the world's eleventh-largest organized religion.

I think, you know, that if you really want to know, you should talk to a Rabbi. It is always best to be able to ask questions as you get an answer, especially to something with as long a history as Judaism.

But the term comes from Judah, who was one of the sons of Jacob (also called Israel, and from which the nation of Israel gets it's name). Judah was the ruling tribe of the twelve tribes of Israel (the twelve sons of Jacob).

The Old Testament of the Bible explains the origins of Israel,
the giving of the law, and the practice of the religion of Israel, which later came to be called Judaism. (First five books of the Bible).

The later books give the history of the people. As time went on the religious leaders added their own interpretations of the O.T. to the religion and the religion developed into various sects,
the two main ones being the Saducees (who did not believe in the resurrection of the body, and presumably then did not believe in the immortality of the soul), and the Pharisees, who did believe in the resurrection of the body and the immortality of the soul.

When Christ came to earth he declared that he was God, the Son of God, the Saviour, and that he was the resurrection and the life.

Those Jews who believed in Christ became Christians, and those Jews who rejected Christ as the Saviour remained in the Jewish faith.

A kind of religion or belief prior to Christianity but still exists and is practiced now by people in Israel who don't believe that Jesus is the promised savior of the world. It is another religion that stresses that there is only one true God; the other religions believing in one true God are Christianity and Islam.
