If you don't understand the point, it isn't for you.

If that is seriously what you think, then you need to mature just a bit.
Care is not why people get married. Its all about love. Having someone witness the rest of your life is precious.. How many friends are going to be there day to day with you and share ups and downs?
I got married because I loved my man. I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him because he is so wonderful. I would be living with my mom right now working a shitty job and dating a bunch of losers not worth my time. Instead I am living with a great man, who will take me all over the world and will do anything to make us happy.
I know you probably wanted to post something that would get people hot under the collar but if not then maybe you havent really been in love or just hurt too many times.

Nope. Aside from the 1000+ legal protections and privileges that are given to spouses (but not domestic partners) in the US, which can be a strong motivator in itself, there is also the emotional connection that comes with being legally joined. We were engaged for 5 years (lived together for 4 of them), so you wouldn't think that when we officially got married it would feel any "different" - but it does. I can't explain it, but it does. I do know I still get a warm fuzzy feeling when I see the ring on his hand. =)

No. To legitimize your children for inheritance purposes. Otherwise, marriage in today's world is a reason to celebrate an open committment of one man to one woman. A reason to have a party, a feast, and time with friends. But a couple can have that anyway, can't they?

Really the only point in getting married is to file a joint tax return. Have visitaion rights at the hospital. And heres the big one.......If you live long enough and out live him you get his social security and pensions. woopy!! Oh yeah, and the kids wont be confused when you have different last names, but you can fix that one easy enough without marriage.

good point,..the cave man days left with the dinasours.......In the not to distant future modern marriages are taking a similar road. Not totally, but similarly enough that many young modern females have already begun in changing the dynamics of marriage by simply refusing it outright.......Socially speaking many high earning females have become as socially and politically powerful as males, so good luck to them i reckon,....if you were good enough to reach there, youre entitled to utilise the returns....

Oh you say that know. but you haven't yet fallen deeply in love with somebody cause if you had . You would be married by now. You haven't met your soul mate yet. Plus its God law. In another word if you want to mess around you need to be married.

Its a committment.

A conscious choice to embark on a lifelong adventure with another human being. Like BFF! :)

No. It's all about the money and rights of survivorship and inheritance. Has nothing to do with love, that's just an excuse because nobody wants to admit it is really all about the money.

I guess to spend the rest of your life with the one you love and with no one else. What is the point if they change and you get nothing out of it that is the question.
