I'm having a birthday party for my 13 year old daughter. We were going to have food and a movie but we thought it would be better if the girls had some activities to do together to bond better (these are fairly new friendships for my daughter). We are looking for outdoor activities if it is nice (we have a volleyball set for that) and indoor games if it isn't nice out. I was thinking Uno but with a twist. Each girl should come up with a new silly rule to use throughout the game. Any other ideas besides doing each other's hair and nails (I think of those as sleepover activities)?
I'd love to hear from girls or parents of girls in this age group...

I must add (in reference to the first two answers). We are in Massachusetts and it is October. And I don't fool with Ouiji boards.

Annie B - the nails and hair was my daughter's idea (maybe she's lame).

Mia - Happy Birthday. My daughter's is tomorrow.

Uno attack is always fun! Badminton & like you said volleyball are great outdoors games..

Keeps some dvd's around for at night maybe some that were just released "hot" movies.. so if they deside they want to watch them they can..

ALWAYS keep chips, cookies, popcorn, soda around too..

Keep in mind they are 13 year old girls.. they are going to get caught up in talking about boys, school and all sorts of things.. they will find some stuff to do on their own..

A dance party is a great idea - at 13 they are at the age that they want to be "adult-like".

On the flip side - how about a survivor party. Do a bunch of challenges and instead of voting people off they just earn points for their team when they win. The team with the most points in the end get a special prize. Capture the whole thing on video - they will just love to watch themselves when its all over.

For an indoor activity, have them play with a Ouiji board. Girls that age love that. You can buy one at any type of department store like Target or Wal Mart in the toy section.

A fear factor party!

have like, peeled grapes as eyeballs to touch, and get soem gooey syrup and gummi bugs to swim around in. it would be a lot of fun.

Seriously, the sleepover, nails and hair, really lame at 13.

they could play truth or dare, that is always a hit. they could also do a balloon toss or balloon war. they could have and egg relay or have a scavenger hunt of some kind. try going to this website, it has a lot of birthday themes and cut stuff.
