I also have a belkin router modem, a F5D7633, the problem is a mismatch between the laptop and modem. You need to configure the laptop to identify your specific wireless link instead of just searching.
Contact Belkin, they are very good and free, and it may be an idea to get a plug in Belkin card for your computer. You will speed up the transfer rate dramatically!!

I'm guessing you've got Windows XP installed there. To find the details of your systems IP Address and configuration information, please go to Start and click on it.

Go to Run and click on it.

In the dialog box that appears, type in cmd and hit Enter.

In the C Prompt Panel with a black background, where you'll see the cursor blinking at the end of a line, type in ipconfig/all and hit Enter.

The Information you see of the strings of numbers and dots are the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, Primary and Secondary DNS Server addresses.

Open the configuration panel of your router and type in these addresses there, and it'll work just fine from then on

All the best.

Cheers.

Assign a static IP address. Connect it to wired and get an ip then subtract 10 from the last number and use that as your ip. That way you are probably out of the routers dhcp range.

Can your network adapter on your laptop detect your wireless network on the Belkin?
If it can detect but cannot get IP, do the following
1) Repair your Winsock. If you are using Windows XP SP2, you can visit http://windowsxp.mvps.org/winsock.htm
If you use XP SP1 and below, you must search for instructions online.

If you cannot even detect the wireless network, then may not be the winsock issue.

Cheers..
