Was the United States in a crisis under the Articles of Confederation, or was the alleged crisis simply an invention of the Federalists to justify their agendas?

The Articles of Confederation left the US vulnerable to attack because the govn was incapable of raising money or taxes to defend America. Even the Barbary Pirates kept us out of the Mediterranean. Economically, the U.S. faced heavy fines and the states had to compete with each other in order to export any goods. Furthermore, even the anti federalists came to the conclusion that a new constitution was needed, the feds just wanted a strong central government while the anti feds were concerned about state rights.

The Articles of Confederation created an exceedingly unfastened association between the states. The states have been very efficient. The significant government became very vulnerable, to the factor that it may no longer carry the states at the same time--the form gave greater ability to the federal government, and much less to the guy states.

They were under crisis under the articles. The central government had no real authority. The only thing keeping the government from going bankrupt was the land ordinance. Britain still had a military presence in U.S territory. Some states had no real security from mob rule. The military was a joke. A few states even considered ceding from the union.
