Try the following. It works. Crush Alka Seltzer tablets into powder and use it instead of harmful insecticides. The roaches cannot digest the powder when they nibble on it thus they implode and die.

Boric acid, sold as a bug powder, (It's also sold as an eyewash, but that's more expensive and harder to use.) It comes in a squeeze bottle, you kind of shake it and then puff it out in a little cloud wherever the bugs go. Chunks and piles of it aren't useful, as the bugs go around. The idea is to produce a very thin film the bugs will walk across. It compromises the exoskeleton so they dehydrate. It is harmless to people and pets. You can also make bait using whatever the bugs like most, mixed with boric acid. I hear that roaches love strained peas. Ants love pancake syrup. I would also use the roach traps. It takes a while to get them all.
If you are in apartment building, though, you'll need to get the landlord involved, as the roaches will go throughout the building, so killing them in your apartment won't solve the problem.

I buy Bengal Roach spray...so much less toxic than the others. I usually get the kids/pets out of a room, spray and then open it about 15 minutes later, then move on to another room. I have never had a problem with it. Best thing, it comes out like a fog, so attach the little straw and stick it into small spaces. It's expensive, but you use less because of the fog. I even open my kitchen cabinets, spray a puff in there and then close. None of us has ever been sick.....

That is a toughy....ummm...you can call a pest control place and ask them what is the safest and tell them that you are just wondering about something not too much...or unless you can afford to hire a pest control place....and depending on what they are caused from ...like if it's not you...or if they were there when you got there......tell teh landlord and they should have to pay for it.....and you know...if they are in your place..chances are they are on the others too....there's several approaches to this...if they are having problems too....then talk to them about splitting the cost of a pest control person.....that should help everybody out. Good luck

Boric acid. It's in powder form, you sprinkle it in typical areas (under sink, corners of carpet, behind appliances). Very non-toxic (safe), inexpensive, easy to use. Good for most exoskeletal (well, they're all exos) hard skeleton bugs like fleas, ticks, roaches, etc..
