Sean Michaels formed DX w/ HHH and later added Chyna and Road Dogg and Buttman after NWO hit it big on WCW late 90's

DeGenertation X was originally formed by Vince McMahon as a direct result/conflict with WCW and the nWo brand.
McMahon was losing in the Monday Night Ratings Wars and needed to come up with a group to compete against WCW's reigning top money makers and to draw more viewers to RAW.
The idea was first thought of because back then the members of what is now known as DeGeneration X were all born in the years known a Generation "X" (before them were the Baby Boomers).
This group was to "do the outrageous" thus being called "degenerates". Everything seemed to fit together and DeGeneration X was born.

D-x of course everybody knows that HBK-HHH-and Chyna were the first of Dx. I think Chyna was the man power behind DX

But after they were starting to be called degenerates they anded an x on the end.
They called themselves for the first time D-Generation-X on October 13 1997

SHAWN MICHAELS HAD A MATCH AGAINST THE UNDERTAKER, TRIPLE H INTERFERED AND AFTER THE MATCH, THEY CALLED THEMSELVES "DEGENERATION X".
THE NEXT NIGTH ON "RAW", THEY ADDED CHYNA AND RICK RUDE.
RICK RUDE WENT TO WCW AND ONLY HBK, TRIPLE H AND CHYNA WERE THE ONLY MEMBERS OF "DX".
THAT WAS THE ORIGINAL "DX".

on aug.18,1997--mankind & undertaker vs hbk& hhh---this match was the defining moment in the history of dx .hbk & hhh teaming together marked the beginning of an unholy alliance that would change the face of sports entertainment forever.
