depends on how long sunlight would be blocked but if it was for long enough, like a couple of months we would all die.
This happened before with a super volcano, such as Yellowstone National Parc.
There are many super volcanoes on Earth that we don't even know exists.
For instance there is a super volcano in Asia that erupted a long long time ago and the ash reached the American continent and covered the whole Globe and brought on a 1000 year old Ice Age

Nothing can obtain energy without the sun. Sunlight is the generator that powers everything. Think- no sun
no plants,
no air, no air
no animals, no animals,
no humans or anything else.
Without sun we are just a block of ice floating around in space. If sunlight was partially blocked, many many plants would die, seriously upsetting ecosystems everywhere. Major catastrophe. Some things might survive, like cockroaches, but probably not much.

If you block the sunlight, plants die. If plants die, the animals that eat the plants die.

Also, if you block the sunlight, Earth's temperature gets cooler. If this lasts long enough, there will be significant climate changes. Climate changes affect life.

Isn't this one theory of how the dinosaurs died out. If this happened the plants would die since they don't have enough sunlight. Then plant eating animals would die from lack of food. Then meat eating animals would die from lack of food. Then the Earth would be empty and dark.
