Is it true that Condolezza Rice and Colin Powell are not considered good role models by Blacks?

I think they are excellent role models for all Americans, whether black or white, Republican or Democrat. They are intelligent, educated, talented, poised;strong familiy relationships, seemingly with no sexual skeletons in their closets. I hope what I have heard is wrong.

I'm not talking politics! Does anyone remember what political view George Washington Carver held? I don't without looking it up, but know he is a Black success story. And, of course, there are many others who ARE role models, but my question referred to the rumors that they two people are NOT considered as good role models for black children. I'm glad to read that most of the answerers take exception to that!!

All answers to the question very good, and it should give us all hope. Out of all these answers, though, Wise seemed to show the most racial prejudice, and was the least able to express herself in proper English. Glass ceiling for Whites, what the hell is she talking about???

I think Connie Rice, Colin Powell, Oprah, Julius Irving and a host of others are wonderful role models, for ALL Americans.

Yes, very much so! Some people think that all the Political decisions
they make are made directly by them.

This is not true! There are lots of people making the big decisions of the wars we have including the Pentagon, And their are many others
in the war room, like the CIA(whose
not reliable for the wrong information), FBI, etc. Rice and Powell just deliver their messges and
shake hands and smile to make it look good. But yes they are role models for our young black children. When they see them, they can see themselves and not be left BEHIND!!!

Yes, they are good role models even though I do not agree with their politics. Condolezza was one of Madeline Albright's father's favorite students. When you say someone is not a good role model simply because of their political party that is not objective. Think about politics in the work place I hate it! Just because someone is from a particular party it does not mean the are good are bad we are all people we just don't agree on every thing. Im not black so maybe i should not be answering this question but like I said we are all people.

I do not know of this for I didn't think they would have to be nor were they trying.
You see they have accomplish through proper proper education with a plan of succeeding!

People of color has not only outnumbered the whites in America but have the most power in America and allow me to tell you why!

Ms Rice is evil. If you think an evil person is a good role model, I'm sorry for you. There are far better Black women you could choose. Coretta King, Mia Angelou, Miriam Anderson, that wonderful Congresswoman from Texas, Barbara..., and of course, Oprah.

Not true. Most black people think that they are role models. That doesn't mean you have to agree completely with their political affiliations.

Reason they are not good role models is they are aligned with the gop. they have historically been for the very rich and been very prejudice toward the black people. now they are courting them trying to win them over for the vote.
