If you are trying to use chassis fans from a computer, you'll need a 12v DC adapter with enough amperes. If you look at the labels on the fan they should say 12v and have an amperage rating. Go to an electronics store such as Radio Shack and pick up a 12v adapter that satisfies the total amperage required by the fans you wish to power.

Note: A typical US wall outlet in the us carries 110~125 Volts AC which can be dangerous if proper safety precautions are not observed. Meaning you should simply cut apart an extension cord and splice it in. Always pay attention to the what electrical, electronic equipment, and associated wiring is rated for.

A typical 80mm fan draws around 0.15 amps. So, to power 5 fans rated at 0.15 amps you'll need a 12v power supply with a .75 amp or greater output (not to be confused with a power supply input amperage rating). Nearly all power supplies have both input and output voltage and amperage ratings printed on a label or molded into it's plastic shell. You can usually find this information on the package the power supply came with as well.

As most fans are 12 volts DC and the wall outlet will be between 100 and 240 volts AC. You should not do this at all. Get a 12 volt DC power supply to run the fan.

A PC fan runs off DC current. You would need a DC to AC converter to do that. Bad idea anyway - the fan uses little current

1 The fans are DC not AC
2 The voltage is 12 volt not 110 or 240 volts
Use a 6 - 12 volt transformer to power the fan, before you kill yourself!

the fan takes about 5-12Volts DC. The wall provides 110-120V AC. Get one of those transformers that you plug into the wall and provides the correct voltage and current.

What are you growing there? You can wire several fans to one adaptor, they don't consume that much power.
