A mixture is when two or more things have been combined or blended. They are not bonded together and have no set proportions. A substance is two or more things combined but they are bonded together and do have a set proportion, like water. Depending on the substance, it can be separated, like water can be separated into its ions, but it takes a lot more energy to separate a substance than it does a mixture.
