Like, she was fine the first few days we got her - she even started warming up to us. But then, two weeks after we got her, she bit me.
Her cage is made of plastic, but the lid at the top (it slides off) is made of bars. It's perfect. There's a rainbow that goes over the whole thing up near the bars at the top. once, I went into my room, and she was hanging from her paws from those top bars! She was absolutely fine though - is this normal, or is she just really clever, or is she just an odd one out?

Her biting you is normal, hamster can be moody sometimes, if she didn't want to be picked up she will bite, or doesn't like something. Hanging from the top of the cage is ok, hamster can be mischievious! So be sure to take her out and let her run around inside those plastic balls, and play with her!

Believe me I have had a few hamsters and they love to try an escape. I had one that would chew on the wire mesh top and hang by it when he was doing it.He finally got his way & escaped on several occasions, the last one he was never seen again. The next one I got did about the same thing. They love being out to explore. he also dissappeared. My new one has been good about not getting out, he trys. They hang there & chew alot. They do bite on occasion. Wash your hands before holding her, they smell what you last ate, & they think you are food. Make sure you have a wheel for her to run on, and some wood chew toys for her to chew on. that sometimes help with them chewing on their cages. they need to chew or their teeth will grow very long. they chew to keep them ground down. Take care & good luck

I can tell you that I have done A LOT of research on hamster, as well as mice, behaviour. My boyfriend and I each have a hamster (2 totally different personalities too) and in the beginning we had about 13 mice, now down to 4 (they have an illness or something).
Hamsters/rodents will do anything for fun. My hamster used to jump at things that were hung in her cage and try to swing on them like Tarzan. My boyfriends hamster loves to chew the bars on the cage and move things around (like her little house). We have put ladders in there and hung them from teh roof and they will swing on them, try to climb them, crawl under them and wait for them to hit them in the rump ...funny to watch I must say...and his hamster used to bite all the time. She didn't want to come out on his hand but now, you'd never know. She loves to just sit and perch on his hand...As for mine, she's only bit me once that I can recall but she's nipped at him a few times...then again, he admitted that he was in the wrong...He put his hand in without washing his hands after eatting stuff lol.
Don't worry, that sort of thing is normal for all rodents...they need to find things to occupy their minds, just as we do. Think about it, if they took away your tv, computer, radio and phone and only gave you bars in your room, wouldn't you climb all over the place??? So long as your hamster isn't hurting itself it's not a problem. As for the biting, it should stop, or at least slow down, just remember to wash your hands before handling her.

No it is not a odd one alot of hampsters like to crawl on the cages. i have alot of friends who keep hamsters and they all liek to climb on the bars and hamsters usually don't bite unless they are tired and are sleeping and if you mess with them they will bite. It takes them a while to get used to you but she will soon learn to not to bite you (at least most of time.) but climbing is something it will probably always do until it get older.

this may seem disgusting notwithstanding it maximum likely is wee with a mixture of poop. is ther some lind of warm temperature source close to his cage? ex: radiator, lamp, window dealing with sunlight and so on. if there is flow his cage to a region the doesnt have those. once you've a warmth lamp above his tunnel flow it. its maximum likely heating the plastic or different textile up and it makes him opt to pee or poop. desire this solves you issues, if no longer, flow to the vet.

:) This is completely normal. I've had hamsters and even rats in my youth... they all do things that we consider "weird". Keep in mind, they aren't meant to be kept in captivity.
