No. The 10 yrs limit to birth control is to let you know that after using it for that period it increases ya risk more than normal for the side effects such as DVT( deep vein thrombosis) Anyway , drug companies make sure and cover themselves from being sued by implementing these warnings. There is increased risk of side effects generally speaking depending on if you have any risk factors such as smoking, body type, family history of DVT etc.
AT your next appt, speak with your doctor ( OB/ GYN) about your concerns since she/he will be able to advise you best since they know your risk factors and personal history. Then he/she would be able to answer your concerns and advise alternatives.
i have never heard about them preventing you from having children. Some women are able to have children immediately after coming off the pill and some women are able to conceive after a couple of months, depends on your genetics.

That's not true. Think about it. If you miss a pill, it's a big deal because the half-life of the pill is short. If you miss 2 pills, it's an even bigger deal. I was on the pill for 12 years before I got off to begin a family. I got pregnant 4 months later. By the way, I used to sell Alesse. It's a great pill.

No, that is not true. You can take the pill for as long as you like. It will not cause infertility. There is a risk if you are a smoker over 35 though as the pill may cause increased blood plressure and your risk for blood clots goes up so, unless you smoke or develop a rare but, serious side effect, you won't need to go off of it. The risks of developing side effects does not increase the longer you take the pill.

I've been on birth control pills since I was 17, and I'm 26 now. No one has said that I have to stop taking them. There are risks associated with taking birth control pills, and some of those risks increase with age, but there dosn't appear to be a time limit on them.

I have been on birth control for about 5 yrs too, and my doc never said anything about a time limit to me. If you are really worried ask your doctor.

no, I asked my gynecologist this questions and she said it's fine. It only takes a few months for the effects of the pill to leave your body.
