Here's the real deal: not all muslims are terroists. ALL terrorists are muslim. To 'tolerate' something does NOT mean you have to like it, and most people I know relate terrorists to muslims. This makes as much sense as liberal politics but I still believe it is OK to dislike people and things and still be tolerant of them. I really dislike those bozos that walk around the grocery store with that stupid robot phone hanging off their ear talking away but I restrain myself from actually snatching it off their head and stomping it to pieces. Am I a tolerant person?

i agree with sister umhuda, i studied in an islamic school and the teachers there are very sweet and so the students, but some students were not. i dont hate ARABS and nor anyone else. Rather I feel lucky for the ARABS bcoz they know the language of the QURAN and they can easily memorize any ahidth that comes to them. I dont think the ARABS have the right to hate others just bcoz Allah made them ARABS. They should thank Allah about it, but not hate others who are not ARABS. But Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw) said that no ARAB is better then a non-Arab and no No-Arab is better then an ARAB....................... I think, rather then discrminating the non-Arabs, the Arabs should be smart and use thier skills to earn the HEARAFTER. i.e buy teaching the non-arabs , at least ARABIC LANGUAGE. My husband searches ARabic LANUAGE material on the net and he gets the materials made by the non-arabs mostly, but very rarely the materials made by the ARABS.

For one thing intollerance is un-Christian!

Moses, Jesus and Mohamed, who all claim to serve and proclaim the same God, recommended to think and act with compassion and forgiveness toward "the others" (neighbours). But Jesus made it clear that our "neighbours" include our enemies.

Now, that is not easy to accept. It is considered "illogical" or "not real life" or "unscientific" etc.

BUT --- Could you immagine if all Jews, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Sihks, Hindus and others, who ALL have been given the teachings of compassion and forgiveness, would live up to that? There would be peace on earth!!

Unfortunately we (including myself) are not perfect. That's why it makes sense to be understanding and forgiving when others don't seem to be perfect.

I wish we could give it an honest try!

Meh. Just so you know, I am a lib on most issues and *I* don't like Muslims either. It's neither fair nor right to do that lame, played-out "blame teh Libz" troll even if that is all Fox News tells you to do this week. :p

And well....there is a world of difference between tolerating those who hate me (like neocon trolls on Yahoo, or your sheet-wearing KKK folks) and *appeasing* folks who are out to *kill* me.

That latter one rather raises the stakes, doesn't it?

Really. I *don't* like either Muslims *or* Evangelical Christians for precisely this reason, I know that they'd hunt me down and kill me dead if either had the chance to. Because I think for myself; because I am not going to leave my brain at the door and become a good little bleating sheeple in some miserable 3rd world theocracy.

That is *different* from say, just having to deal with folks who hate me for being a Greenie, or for not being lily white enough, or whatever. Their hate doesn't *endanger* my life and limb.

Near as I can tell, Osama bin Laden and his *ilk* still do.

Just don't tell that to Yahoo, God Forbid, they might just *keyword* you and give you half a dozen violations....just for not sucking up to the Oil Heads and appeasing them. I mean, the rest of us, we can report trolls and rant about obscene posts by the dozen and get ignored, but heaven forbid if some *religious* nutter gets even the slightest bit annoyed over the truth "being biased" against him.

Sucks, doesn't it? :) I've always said PC was a double-edged sword, and that anyone, conservative or otherwise, can end up with that mental wedgie.

It is bigoted and prejudiced. How can you hate someone you've never met? You only know they hate you because someone on Fox TV told you so, on behalf of Mr. Bush. Has a Muslim ever told you he hates you?

respond with tolerance? you mean act the way the amish community did by being kind to the family of the man who killed and injured their little girls? the way they responded with tolerance and sympathy instead of lashing out with hate and aggression?

because that's definitely never the way to go, right?

listen, i'm not for coddling terrorists or anything, but this question seethes self-righteousness and blind hate. there are other ways to go about responding to extremism that do not include gratuitous violence. think ghandi or the nonviolent protests of the civil rights movement.

I think most of America is not too keen on muslims. Nothing wrong with that considering what they did to us on 9/11.
