I am bi-racial. My mother is white and my father is black.
This is a very contraversial subject.
There's Black movie channels and black music channels, magazines...etc.
There's also women this women that. God forbid if anyone made a man only magazine or club or tv show.
God forbid if anyone made a white TV station or movie channel.
Law suit waiting to happen. I could go on and on but I'll leave it at that.

I believe that the black awards (and beauty pageants and tv channels and magazines, etc. etc. etc.) were started when blacks were truly kept out of mainstream entertainment. And - even today, when black actors and actresses can be seen in very film - COUNT the number of black best actor/actress awaards given at the Oscars - what is it? FOUR? There was a time when things WEREN'T equal - and they resorted to having their own cultural events in response to the segregation and prejudice. I feel the same way about affirmative action. There was a time when it was truly the only way that black citizens were given a chance.
But, frankly, the times have changed. That special 'leg up' is no longer necessary. We have black citizens at every level of Amrican society - including Secretary of State. And we certainly have african americans at the very top of every entertainment field.
It's time to let go of chosen segregation, IMO.

well that would be "racist". its ok for the black people but not for us white people. I would love to see a White Movie Award show. On that subject they have BET- Black Entertainment Television. I would LOVE a WET- White Entertainment TV.. maybe we could think of a different name, WET sounds like a porn station. Umm.. WTS- White Television Station. Okay no leave tje creative part to the pros. Ya get where Im going with this.

The Annual Academy Awards was in March of this year...check again next year!

Just as soon as the liberals and Democrats (was that redundant?) start campaigning for real racial equality. Until then, us white folks will remain second class citizens.
