If #1 is consistently telling the truth, #4 cannot be either lying or truthtelling consistently. So #1 lies. Then #4 lies, and #2 and #3 tell the truth.
Of course, if giving the right answer doesn't get the victim released, the guy who described the situation to him is a liar...
