I burn a lot of incense, so I tend to notice how other people's homes smell before anything else. I also find myself mapping escape routes in my head 'just in case' (of what, I have no idea), counting candles and examining their baseboards for signs of rodent activity. All of this takes about 10 seconds. After that, I am a very well behaved guest.

When entering some one new's home and step in, you'll more than likely look down to watch your step. So their floors is what will catch your eye first.

I find it rude to look over peoples things, I expect the same out of someone at my home. I also think it is rude to sit down or wonder around if not asked to by my host.
