This morning my car would not start because of a lose connection. I went to tighten the bolt and not only did it break but I must have hit some other metal it sparked. I replaced the bolt but now I have this problem. So far I have been told two different things, one is that the ECU was without power for so long it was reset and now must relearn how the car drives. The second is that the positive battery cable is still lose and that is why it is happening. What's the deal?

I changed the spark plugs recently and also had the oil changed. I have not had the fuel filter changed though.

It does start up fine though. I don't know if that has anything to do with it but just thought that I would tell you.

Clean the throttle body, and find the idle air control motor and clean that too. Even with an ECU relearning it shouldnt idle rough. If the terminal is secure enough to crank the engine over, its good enoug to run the engine easily. How long since tune-up, fuel filter???

first off is there a check engine light. If yes based on what it tells you you should take baby steps to fix the problem. If there is none, your alternator might be on its last breaths and is not sending errors to your onboard diagnostics yet because it is still producing the minimum required to run the main components tipical of mitsubishi engines for reliability purposes(you should be noticing light flickering on your dash once on a while, might be so minimal you cant even tell) anyways take it somewhere whe they can check your alternator if you cant do it your self (all you need is a voltmeter and the manual to tell you how to do it) have fun and hope you get it fixed if is not the alternator, it should have a check engine light on.

You probably have a short in your battery cable. The cable is making ground somewhere where the cable is exposed and hitting metal. Check the positive cable from the battery to the starter to find out if the cable is shorting out somewhere.

have you tryed checking to see if any of your plug wires came loose? I have not been in the industry for a long time so I am guessing....Try pulling them off, looking at them for arching over and put them back on. Good luck!
