I need to know how to calculate the size of a silkworm's cocoon. It's an oval shape.

actually its a cylinder with hemispheres on either end.

Volume cocoon = volume cylinder + volume sphere = Vc+Vs

Vc = pi x r^2 x length.
Vs = 4/3 pi x r^3

Assume the cocoon is an ellipse and find the volume by rotat[ng it around the x axis .

Length X width X pye (7/22)
this will give you the volume or size required.
