Do you think people REALLY are just joining fraternal organizations (you know the "secret handshake" dudes and dudettes) for what they can get out of the association financially?
I don't mean any particular organization, but there are several of this type.
Haven't you known people who worked like slaves, worked to achieve a good education and so on, yet didn't so much as have two dimes to rub together 'til they joined the (such and such) lodge!!!???

That is exactly all it is about. 150%

It's all about "self gain".

A Big Countryclub type brawl, and some are a drunken brawl at that.

Mozart was a pauper when he died. In fact, he didn't have the money for his buiral, and no one can really identify his grave to-day. But he was a mason. His fellow mason friend did help him out with money, but not enough, if I remember.
