Be prepared. It's not enough to just say relax, everyone gets through it. I really don't like the idea of drugs and wanted to have my first baby without an epidural. I took Lamaze classes but still wasn't prepared enough when they induced me and after 7 hours of hard labor with nothing happening I gave in and got an epidural. With my 2nd and 3rd I used a technique called hypnobirthing. You can look up info about it online and most likely there are classes by you but they are kind of pricey. I never took the classes, I just ordered the book and tapes online from ebay or amazon and went over and over everything on my own. Now I won't say that my labors were pain-free, but I was able to stay relaxed enough that my hubby and midwife didn't know when I was having a contraction. My second was even born face up without too much pain or incident. I just want you to know that I am the biggest wimp in the world but that I did it so I know anyone can. Don't be induced if at all possible because that complicates things and makes the contractions a whole lot more painful and read the hypnobirthing book. Even if you don't end up having a completely natural childbirth this will really help you to understand the whole pain with childbirth issue and ease your mind. The mind is a powerful tool. I know you can do this. After trying this method I know I would never go back to anything else. My births were so calm and peaceful and the recovery afterwards was 100x's better. Not to mention the adrenalin high you get afterwards that you don't get when you have an epidural. Good luck! I hope you have a beautiful, peaceful birth.

i was scared too, most women are. of course it didn't scare me too much, i had 5 kids. you have to face up to the fact that yes, it might be the worst pain you have ever felt. the only way to defeat the pain, is to learn how to manage it. you can do that with breathing exercises, taking lamaze classes. walking will help with the labor as well. look into different birthing plans. if you are trying to go natural or decide if you can't have some idea of what type of pain relief you would prefer and do the research. don't be so quick to decide on epidural and all pain blocking meds. you are having a baby, some pain is part of the whole birthing experience. its the most wonderful and beautiful thing every. once you hold your baby for the first time, you will forget all the pain. good luck.

Just stay calm and relax. It's actually not that bad. When I went into labor I didn't go straight to the hospital, I walked around in my house a little. Walking helps a whole lot. My cousin was scared of her labor pains and she had to have an emergency C-section. She was trying to keep the baby in and the baby wanted out. So just keep cool, breath and relax you'll be fine.

It is ok to be scared of the labor pains. It is a painful process. If you keep your body relaxed and concentrate on breathing through the contractions it will be easier. There are plenty of pain controlling medications and techniques that are used. Walking and the birthing ball are a great help. A back massage even helps.

First off, RELAX!!! I'm not going to lie...I've had 2 children and yes, they do hurt (the labor pains, not the kids). They feel like really, really bad gas pains, but all that scary screaming stuff you see on Lifetime and shows like that... you won't really remember it.Because of all the endorphins pumping, you go into a state where you're there, but yet your're not. It's really hard to explain, but you'll see that your fear of the pain is actually worse than the pain itself. You will also be able to ask for pain medication in the hospital if it does get to be too much for you. They won't start off painful at first anyway, just a crampy feeling...you'll be admitted long before they get strong enough to warrent pain meds!

Try to relax and not get yourself into a tizzy specially if you're not in labor right now lol. There are medications they can give you to take the edge off and the best thing to do is have your loving partner who also made this child stand next to you for support and sympathy which he will definitely give if you grab hold of his package and give it a good squeeze every pain so he too can feel the joy of birth. LOL. Serious talk to your OB/GYN b4 hand so you will have a smooth transition with meds if necessary.

Get an epidural. With my first I got one and could not feel anything. With my second I had to be induced, and the doctor didn't have one prescribed, so I got it late and felt everything. It really isn't as bad as you think it will be. You will have to go through some labor, they won't give you an epidural until you are about 4 cm dilated. If you go into labor scared, it will make your muscles tense up, to try to fight against the pain, that will make it worse. It is best to think that it will hurt, then it will not be as bad.I promise. Good Luck!!

Every woman is scared of labor pains. We all hear horror stories and think that ours is going to be that way. You need to relax, its not bad. I was petrified and didn't think I could do it either, but I did. It is painful but, once you see that beautiful baby you would gladly go through that pain again. ( I know I would)
Good Luck

i replaced into a similar way. and then 3 days of exertions later i had a newborn. you're able to do it.. the certainty that exertions pains have a wreck in between is what saves you. if it replaced into consistent soreness it would be insufferable even though it is not any longer you get a wreck. besides it may be much less time for you than it replaced into for me. yet once you're having the contractions early on in case you % to get it over swifter you could desire to stroll. my mom made me do a conga line for like hours and it did it. and by using the time i replaced into in actual soreness i pass tmy epidural and then it replaced into soreness loose from there. pushing took 5 minutes (for my 3 days of exertions i assume that replaced into my loose present haha) stable luck it is going to likely be very properly.. much less stress the extra effective hon

EVERY FIRST TIME MOM IS SCARED, THERES NOTHING YOU CAN DO NOT TO BE. JUST REMEMBER YOUR BODY WAS MADE FOR THIS AND YOU WILL BE FINE. IF IT WAS THAT HORRIBLE NO ONE WOULD HAVE MORE THAN ONE AND THE POPULATION WOULD HAVE DIED OUT YEARS AGO
AS FAR AS THOSE SAYING GET THE EPIDURAL, PLEASE AT LEAST TRY IT BEFORE YOU REQUEST DRUGS!!!!!!!! WHILE THAT CAN SPEED UP SOME LABORS IT CAN SLOW IT DOWN IN SOME AS WELL. NOT TO MENTION THE SIDE EFFECTS THAT COULD COME WITH IT. IM ALL FOR IT IF ITS NEEDED BUT I WISH MORE PEOPLE WOULD AT LEAST SEE WHAT ITS LIKE BEFORE BEGGING FOR DRUGS JUST BECAUSE THERE SCARED OF THE UNKNOWN, I HAD ONE WITH MY SON BUT ONLY AFTER THE THIRD DAY OF INDUCTION. I DIDNT WITH MY DAUGHTER AND IN MY OPINION IT WAS MUCH MUCH BETTER WITHOUT
