Africa. But Homo Habilis was the first to move out of Africa. If I remember correctly.

North American, USA, somewhere in the wilds of Illinois, in fact there is a whole movement for homo habilis to have equal protection under the law for marriage! Seriously, the definition of this species is credited to both Mary and Louis Leakey, who found fossils in Tanzania, East Africa, between 1962 and 1964

Homo habilis lived in East Africa.
The fossils of note of Homo habilis are from Kenya, particularly Koobi Fora.
H. habilis is still considered the first member of our genus, and ancestral to us.
Ancestral to H. habilis is most likely Australopithecus afarensis, or the "Lucy" fossil.

The olduvai gorge is in Asia, not africa. They are not H. habilis.
And the A. aferansis is a different level of evolution before the H. habilis.

They were found in the Olduvai Gorge, Tanzania by the famous Leakeys. Others were found in Koobi Fora, Kenya. They were supposed to be the descendents of the australopithecines (remember Lucy?).
