If the ball is allowed to fall to the ground, what will its speed be the instant before it hits the ground?

work = force times distance.

After being raised, the ball has a potential energy equal to the work done on it. The fall will convert that PE to kinetic energy, according to

KE = 1/2 mv^2 ... so solve that for V and then plug in the numbers.

Speed = -32 mph/sec^2
What is the time it takes for it to hit the ground? I don't think you gave enough information.
