I'm a Christian and argue with the things Robertson and Falwell say, and the Bush administration. You'd think you'd hear more from muslims condeming the rampant terrorism in their faith. Whatever.

There is a show on FX called "30 Days" by Morgan Spurlock (the same guy who did the "Super Size Me" documentary about eating McDonald's for 30 days and then seeing the health problems that arise from that).
One episode takes a man from . . . Virginia (or West Virginia?) named David Stacy and places him in a predominantly Muslim community near Detroit, Michigan. In it, David asks almost the same exact question that you ask to an Islamic lawyer. His reply is something along the lines of "we shouldn't have to."

Muslims have always condemned terrorism. While the religion might have a militarily based past, the Quran teaches peace. Why should they have to apologize and "speak out" every single time some crazy person who happens to be Muslim commits an act of terrorism?

The same way that Most western Chritians won't protest when genocide is committed against some Muslims. Usually people react to those issue that directly affect them. Muslims do understand that those terrorists are not doing any good for any one and they denounce it. But they will (like any other human) be more outragious when someone attacks their identity. A more appropriate question would be does the world give enough focus on other Muslims and their views? All you hear is just that Muslim terrorists did that and said that and Muslims critics said that. I am very sure that if the world would just give a little attention to what Islam really says about terrorism, those people would be marginalized even within their society and would not advantage of youngsters. Every time western countries simply use force and destroy other countries, kill other people just because they happen to be fellow citizens of those terrorists, they are creating perpetual terrorist ideologies that they will have to fight for centuries to come.

There are two types of muslims, the radical ones who actually follow the Koran which does preach death to all infidels (which all non muslims are) or the modern muslims who actually are more into materialism/prosperity, etc. The modern muslims don't want to speak out against their radical brothers because 1) they know the radicals will kill them as well as the infidels if they do and 2) they don't want to rock the boat of their nice life, prosperity and all. This was told to me by a former muslim.

How do you know they don't?
Muslims aren't the only terrorists in the world. GWB is far worse and is responsible for the deaths of far more people, including Americans.

We did speak out but westernized media prevented us expressing our disapproval of the attack in order to play up hate and aggression towards Islam and Muslims.

We were silenced by your own American government in "the name of national security".
