When you apply for college the colleges want to know what your academic level is, that is, how well will you fit in with the other students. Yous hould be in a school where the other students are about the same level, or a little higher level than you.
And the schools want to know what you can contribute to their campus - are you an athlete, a musician, a great mathe student? What?

When you apply they will look first at your transcript to see that you are a good student. Then they will look at your other activities to see what else makes you an interesting person. It isnt bad that you were in soccer, but I think they would much rather hear about what you did in high school!

Don't pay any attention to that sourpuss who hates colleges. I know lots of college professors and a lot of them really, really care about their students and try very hard to do a good job in teaching. Colleges give out a huge amount of money every year in scholarships. They wouldnt do that if all they cared about was money!

Colleges care about two things. Tuition and their reputation. The rest is window dressing. That is the truth.
