Your horse should be taken to the farrier every 6-8 weeks, if you know your horse pretty well you'll know how long to wait. Sometimes it will change as the seasons change as well. If you wait to long your horses hooves will get to long and may begin tripping. It is optional if you want shoes, but it is still the same time. You should get new shoes every three visits. Depending on your farrier prices can rage from $75-$150.

Your horses should see the vet at least once of twice a year. Your vet may send you reminders of possible vaccinations for your horse. Along with vaccinations your horse will need a check up, teeth-floating sometimes, and if he is a gelding possibly a sheath cleaning, unless you want to do it.

My horse gets checked monthly, but I think the vet should be every 2-4 months and the farrier every month.

My Vet comes once a year to draw blood for the State Required "Coggins" Test. That about it, he taught me how to give shots and all that stuff.
The Farrier comes when I feel the Hoofs need trimmed and new shoes put on or a shoe come off, I just keep an eye on things, next time your farrier comes ask him what you should look for as to when you need to call him again. My farrier has showed me how to trim the hoofs and even put on shoes and tighten a lose shoe. But, I not as physically able and he comes more than the Vet. Usually it averages every 3 months. ;-)

I think that the vet should either come out every 6 months or every 12 months. Not sure.. The farrier needs to come and at least trim evey 6 to eight weeks even if your horse is barefoot... I don't like to keep mine in shoes in the winter because they are on pasture, and the snow will ball up under them.. good luck..

They vet should come at least once a year to do annual vaccines, and the farrier should visit 6-8 weeks.

The vet should come every 6 months, usually in Spring and Fall for vaccinations. Hopefully no more often than that for emergencies.
Show horses should be trimmed and/or reset every 6 weeks. Pleasure horses should be trimmed every 8 to 10 weeks.

We get our horses checked once or twice a year. Once for yearly shots, and another for check ups. Farriers need to maintain their feet (trim them) every 6-8 weeks.
