what is the ECU?

i just want to make shure what is an ECU helpp me on this one

The ECU is known as the electronic control unit on earlier vehicles it controlled engine management. On later vehicles they specify the management ,BCM body control module/Ecm engine control module/ TCM transmission control module and so on.

Basically the computer that controls the engine systems, from airfuel ratio to battery voltage.
