I have an audition coming up, and the musical has mostly up-beat peppy music in it, I have already tried many a time by myself to correct my soulful singing, but it has just been the way I have always sung.

Be happy with what you have, and just audition as you are. If your talent is there, you should not have to adjust your style. There is no such thing as "too soulful".

There are different of voice levels and tune. Look for a song that you think you can sing well. If you can never sound soulful, don't force your voice to. It will be worse.I have heard many singing contest's judges say "Look for the song that's right for you." Then practice the song. You'll see, you will sound better. You can check it by recording your voice and check on what part of the song needs a little improvement. Then sing to your friends/family so they can have some suggestions. Goodluck!

I personally love soulful singing, and I am amazed you would ever want to get rid of a deep, soulful voice, but if you really want to change, then I only have one piece of advice for you:

Sing into your nose and act like Hillary Duff.

well i personally prefer the soulful voice over the preppy voice but to sound preppy say the word "like" inbetween every other word and put more effort into ur smile then ur music

or u could just say "screw this....im going where im appreciated!" i would rather do that.....

be true to your style and don't strain your voice.
a voice coach can help train for more range and variation but it doesn't sound like you have time before this one.
